Dentro del marco del festival LOOP´06, la artista Christina Benz ha concebido la video instalación Pool para el restaurante Carmelitas donde se encuentra expuesta. Tres pantallas diferentes muestran tres vistas de una piscina que se localiza en un lago. El agua es clara y la superficie se encuentra congelada. No hay movimiento en la piscina, mientras que en la superficie del lago se mueve de manera natural. Las figuras humanas se encuentran sentadas en los trampolines de arranque, pero lo único que hacen es estar sentadas y quietas.
Cristina Benz (Suiza, 1972) vive y trabaja en Zurich. Sus instalaciones muestran imágenes expresivas y escenarios complejos. En su trabajo presenta cuestiones sobre problemática social contemporánea como un punto de partida, y lentos desarrollos que incorporan figuras con absurdas e irónicas acciones. Terminó la carrera de Bellas Artes en Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Londres, en 2004. Su trabajo ha sido seleccionado por Artissima 12, Present Future Section. También ha participado en la Feria Arco en Madrid. Ha realizado exposiciones individuales y colectivas en Zurich, Londres y Bruselas.

As part of the LOOP'06 Festival, Christina Benz has created the video installation Pool for CARMELITAS. Three screens show three different views of a pool that is found in a lake. The water is clear the the surface is frozen. There is no movement in the pool while the surface of the lake moves naturally. The human figures are seated in the starting boards, but they stay seated, sitting quietly.
Christina Benz (Switzerland, 1972) lives and works in Zurich. Her installations show expressive images and complex scenarios. Her work departs from questions regarding the contemporary social problematic, and develops slowly incorporating figures with absurd and ironic actions. She finished her studies in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, in 2004. Her work has been selected by Artissima 12, Present Future Section. She has also participated in ARCO and has shown in Zurich, London, and Brussels. |
