"La ciudad respira". DVD. 2004 - 2005

"La ciudad respira" ( The City Breaths ) is an urban intervention created by Andrea Camarelli (Viedma, Argentina, 1976), that began as a reflection on the respiration of the subway system, where thousands of people move about daily inside the tunnels, in order to go about their everyday activities. The intervention has also been realized on a public building. The perspective of this work is to displace the work of art towards the people, above all towards those that do not have access to the spaces where art is displayed. The project achieves a re-discovery of the spaces that are anesthetized by daily use. It is a search to resignify common sites and to try to poeticize them. This subtle activity is important in that it points to one of the most vital problems for the post-modern citizen, which is the daily routine, the preoccupation with one's personal trifles, the lack of extroversion, the fact that the time one spends in work is time robbed from a part of one's life.
